As a security expert, I tend to see things through a different set of eyes than others—seeing dangers they might not realize exist and consequences they might not be prepared to handle.  And while I deal with a wide variety of growing trends that interfere with the safety of government agencies and businesses, I also follow those trends that may interfere with the safety of people in general.  One such trend: texting.

 It’s no surprise that texting has become the communication tool of choice for teenagers—and even many adults.  But, what might be surprising to learn is how this new trend can have harmful—even fatal—consequences.  From texting inappropriate photos (1 in 5 teens have sent a nude or semi nude photo of themselves via their cell phone) to participating in bullying activities (42% of teens have been bullied while online) to texting while driving (24% of all fatal car accidents involving teens between 16 and 19 were a result of cell phone usage), today’s teens (and their parents) could be setting themselves up for a lifetime of emotional scars, legal ramifications or even death.

So, what should parents know about today’s texting trends?  I have written a new eBook, Safe Text:  Protecting Your Teen from the Dangers of Texting, in hopes of educating parents and teachers about some of the risks of cell phone usage and giving them the resources and tools they need to be empowered to help their teens make good choices—keeping the parent/teen relationship healthy while keeping their teens safe.

What is e-QIP?

The Electronic Questionnaires for Investigations Processing (e-QIP) will replace the Electronic Personnel Security Questionnaire (EPSQ), previously used within Department of Defense (DoD) as the automated request for personnel security investigations and clearances. 

e-QIP is a secure website that will eventually contain all PSI forms, including the SF 86, SF 85P, and the SF 85. Within the DoD, the Facility Security Officer (FSO) at a cleared facility will initiate the request through the Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) that will permit the employee to access the site and complete the personnel security questionnaire on line.

Valentine day is one of my favorite holidays and I am still basking in the persona of sharing and giving love. 

 Wait! Hold On a minute!

Before you comment about how self absorb my blogs are, I understand that a lot of people do not enjoy Valentine’s Day as much as I do. I can accept that, as long as you accept my choice to Love IT.

 Well, most of the valentine candy is removed the shelves at the store, and I have a slight stomach ache because I ate to much chocolate walnut clusters. I just blew my New Year’s resolution about losing weight, right out of the window. Can you say Jenny Craig?

Today, I read a blog from Adrinee Miller, and she talked about singing the blues, unless you can sing like B.B. King.  She further stated that you should not complain “about how bad things are with your business to everyone, because they could be your next referral source or, still better yet, a potential new client.  She further stated “That you don’t have a second chance to create a first impression”.

 Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

It gives me the blues that 1.4 million people are out of work and yes, I do sing the blues to anyone and everyone that will listen.

 I ask my site visitors to blog about how a Government Security clearance will help you get a better paying job, and yes, I complain that my web site could use more visitors and asked on suggestions about selling more books.

 I also, blog about how bad the economy is doing. I talk about how can I get a better rating on Google. Why? because maybe someone knows how I can increase my rating, or how I grow my client list, or sell more eBooks.

I have you know, that my site visitors are brillant and have provide me with excellent guidance.

  Are you asking me to lie and say that things are hunky dory?

Did you know that; Why I Sing the Blues, is one of Mr. King’s favorites songs and he states that everybody wants to know why he sings the blues.

 In his song he sings that, I’ve been around a long time and I really have paid my dues and that is Why I sing the Blues!

 So, this year, I made up my mind that I am going to continue to sing the blues, about why more people do not know that by having a Government Security Clearance, you will get paid $5,000.00 – $10,000.00 more.

 I will continue to sing the blues until the employment rate is down

 I will continue to sing the blues until there is a cure for cancer.

 I will continue to sing the blues until all animals that enter a shelter make it out alive!

 Why?

 Because, I have paid my dues!

I must confess that I am in Love with the singing artist Prince. I find him to be the most exciting pop star of our time.

I know everything about him.  His name real name, where he was born, his father’s name, he’s a Vegan and, that he is a control freak.

Don’t get me wrong, there are other great pop stars, Michael Jackson and Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, just to name a few but, Prince stood out the most for me!

In the movie Purple Rain, he sang: “I am not a woman, I am not a man/I am something that you’ll never understand.”  You are right Prince, we will never understand.

Will anyone understand that having a government security clearance you can make more money on your job?

 It is not that difficult to understand that the process is really not that hard, if you are aimed with the correct information, you can overcome the fear of the dreaded forms.

Just like Prince appears to be a complicated person, many people think the security clearance process is complicated, too.

In an article written by Barney Hoskyns, he stated”Does he (Prince) have any more significant music left in him? I think he should go back to the Dirty Mind drawing board and write 10 raw, emotional songs about where he is at in his life. Only then will he reconnect with the world at large and become relevant again”

What does that mean Mr. Hoskyns?  Relevant again?  Is he not relevant, because he is not selling 20 million records?

Does that mean a person is not relevant because they are not doing what they use to do?

 What about just being happy where you are in you life

After watching the news and seeing just how many people are interested in whether or not the Ground Hog saw his shadow or not.  I am having a pity party, I guess being locked inside is making me a little down. So, I said to myself, Self? Who is sponsoring this woodchuck?  How do we really know if he saw his shadow or not!

Here in the Metro DC area, we are up to our Wyzuka’s  in snow. The good thing about the snow is that it has brought many neighborhoods together by helping each other, dig out of the snow and remembering how Thankful, I am to be have a place to keep me warm.

I understand that Punxsutawney Phil didn’t see his shadow, NO MORE SNOW.  YEAH!

I did not know that the Ground hog or Wood Chuck, as he prefers to be called, has sponsors?  Did You?

How can this be? I mean, he is just a woodchuck that comes out once a year? 

I don’t have sponsors do you?

How does a company go about getting sponsors?

I do more than connect with my niche more than once a year and, he has companies fighting for his time.  What I am doing wrong?  I know that  Security is a dry subject!  Am I wrong to feel this way about a Ground Hog?

How can I get sponsors?   I can only imagine companies paying for what I know about the security clearance process and helping people get more secure high paying jobs, by having a security clearance.

Fail to Plan, Plan to Fail

When speaking with the various Marketing experts, I am often asked “who is my intended audience?”

After the terrible shooting in Az., and with the last few weeks of 2010 leaving me a little depressed, I realized that the words to an old song called Everything Must Change, fits my mood to a tea.

As I moped around feeling sorry for myself because my business is not doing that well, my eBooks are not selling and there are 1.4 million people out of work. The title of the song resonated with me.

“Everything must change, nothing stays the same”

What is it that we know? We know that the Young will become the old, and mysteries do unfold. We know that there are 1.4 million people out of work.

But let’s think about this for a moment.  Everything must change, nothing stays the same?

How can you tell an unemployed person that “Everything must change”?  “Nothing stays the same, and not feel, any compassion for them?

There are not many things in life one can be sure of except rain comes from the clouds, sun lights up the sky and, hummingbirds do fly, and certainly you can make money if you have a security clearance. 

As I realized that to feel the cold snow is a blessing, at least, I can feel.

To feel a heart break is a blessing, be glad my heart is pumping

The need to help others, I am blessed with compassion.

To be able to read and write this blog, I was blessed with good teachers.

As I look for motivation to get up and get moving, I get it, I finally get it now; that winter will turn to spring and a wounded heart will heal, and you CAN make money if you have a security clearance. 

Remember, Everything MUST change!

This morning while driving to a client’s site, I heard a song by the artist Adelle.  In the song she is singing about chasing pavements.

Chasing Pavements? 

I pondered on this title for a moment, and then it hit me that, I have often felt that I have been chasing pavements by looking for ways to market my EBooks guides, and my security consulting business.
